I have been engaged in the private practice of law in Mobile for nearly thirty years. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to handle a broad array of matters, with the focus of my practice being on general civil litigation, primarily of a commercial nature, as well as commercial transactions, including finance.
I have significant experience in providing general legal counsel to small and medium-sized closely-held businesses, many of which are family owned, relating to a myriad of transactions, personnel matters, contracts, real estate transactions and succession planning, as well as interpreting local, state, and federal laws and regulations. In the course of my litigation practice, I have not only represented clients in a variety of general civil matters, but I have handled insurance coverage matters, creditors’ rights (i.e., collection and bankruptcy) matters and maritime litigation, as well as estates, trusts and other probate matters.
I was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1988, and I am currently licensed to practice before all Federal and State Courts in the State of Alabama, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
I hold an “AV – Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which rating signifies that my peers believe me to carry the highest level of professional excellence for legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards. I am also recognized in The Best Lawyers in America as being among the top five percent of practicing attorneys in the United States in the area of commercial transactions.
