IRS ANNOUNCES TAX RELIEF FOR HURRICANE SALLY VICTIMS
On September 21, 2020 the IRS announced that victims of Hurricane Sally now have until January 15, 2021 to file various individual and business tax returns and make certain tax payments. Individuals and households who reside or have a business in Baldwin, Escambia and Mobile counties in Alabama qualify for this tax relief.
Consequently, certain deadlines falling on or after Sept. 14, 2020, and before Jan. 15, 2021, are postponed through Jan. 15, 2021. This includes individual and business tax filers that had a valid extension to file their 2019 return due to run out on October 15, 2020. However, tax payments related to 2019 returns which were due on July 15, 2020 are not eligible for this relief.
The January 15, 2021 deadline applies to the third quarter estimated tax payment due on September 15, as well as to the quarterly payroll and excise tax returns normally due on November 2. CLICK HERE for the full text of the announcement.
